Chicago is a city that loves its sports, the major ones being basketball, football, baseball, and hockey. This past summer there have been talks and some rumblings about the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox requesting funding for new stadiums. Solider Field has been a city staple since it was built between 1922 and 1924. It did receive renovations back in 2002-2003. But since then it has been the home of The Chicago Bears as well as concerts and other events. Below you can see a look at Solider Field just three years ago.

As the summer rolled on Chicago Bears CEO Kevin Warren has gone on the record to say that the team would prefer to build a new stadium within the city and is willing to work with the Chicago White Sox to get the ball rolling on this project. Speaking of the Chicago White Sox, their stadium Guaranteed Rate Field is only just 60ish years younger the the Bears stadium. Originally built from 1989 to 1990, the stadium has been a Southside staple for years. Its most memorable moment is when the White Sox won the 2005 World Series seen below.

According to an NBC news article, "that proposed stadium would be built just to the south of Soldier Field along the lakefront, with the plan calling for the Bears and the NFL to cover approximately half of what would ultimately be a project with an estimated price tag of $5 billion." Even sports fans have their takes on the idea of new stadiums. Below is a short gif of the possibility of the Bears and the White Sox sharing a stadium courtesy of WGN News.

It sounds like a very pricey stadium for the Bears alone, but lawmakers and even the Governor of Illinois have their concerns about using public money to pay for such an expansive project for both teams. Currently, there are no plans to negotiate for public funding for both stadiums and both teams are still involved in their current leases with their respective facilities.
