On September 10th, 2024, in Philadelphia, PA, the 2024 presidential debate took place, which was an anticipated debate. This would be the first debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican Nominee and Former President Donald Trump. The topics discussed during the almost two-hour debate saw the candidates clash on issues like healthcare, abortion, immigration, and taxes.

The debate was moderated by ABC World News Tonight anchor and journalist David Muir and ABC broadcast Journalist Linsey Davis. Throughout the debate, Trump described a nation in turmoil, he said "We have a nation that is dying". But as the debate went on it was not without its tension and what some may say questionable statements made by Trump.

Harris went on to make a reference to Trump's tariffs, claiming "it will create a sales tax on the middle class", she would also go on to criticize his respect for dictators from other nations and his connection to the January 6th riot. As the night went on, Trump got more and more frustrated with Harris' critics of his policies and connections to Project 2025, which some have described as an ultra-right-wing to-do list if Trump were to be elected. Trump went on to say he had not heard nor read the agenda. Harris discussed making economic policies like making tax credits for small start-up companies.

On a lighter, more memorable note Trump made claims about immigrants eating people's pets, claimed that women were getting abortions at full term, and that VP Harris was trying to "give transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison". The debate is available for rewatch on ABC's YouTube channel, clocking in at 2 hours and 55 minutes.
