Kim Wayans, An Underrated Wayan

The Wayans Family is one of the most recognizable families in Hollywood. The more well-known of the family are brothers Keenen Ivory, Shawn, Marlon, and Damon Sr., but none can forget their sister Kim. On September 12th, Marlon Wayans appeared on Shaquille O'Neal's Podcast, The Big Podcast with Shaq. During the appearance, O'Neal offered $10,000 if Wayans could answer who his favorite Wayan is. Wayans guessed Kim Wayans.

He went on to say that Kim was also his favorite, and gave credit to his sister with her appearance in movies like A Low Down Dirty Shame and I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. Some of my favorite moments from her career were when she played an inconsolable mother in Don't Be a Menace To South Central

Another one of my favorite moments was when she was in a skit from In Living Color with her brother Keenen Ivory Wayans called "Lean On Me Beautiful", where they parodied the movie Lean On Me

There was also another skit she did in later seasons where the cast would parody songs from famous music artists of that year. One that Wayans would do is when she parodied Crystal Waters' 1991 hit Gypsy Woman.

That would not be her only appearance on a family-related project. She also appeared on an episode of Shawn and Marlon Wayans's TV show The Wayans Bros. In Season 2 Episode 11, Kim played their cousin Shelia who was left by her fiance and goes to stay with the men to get over a heartbreak. In the episode, she gets a makeover.

Since then she has gone on to play in other comedies as well as some dramatic roles. But she returned to a comedic role playing a character named Aunt Bev in a skit from the 2019 sketch comedy show A Black Lady Sketch Show.

To say that she is a legend in her own right is an understatement and I am excited to see where her career takes her from her. It is to be noted as well Marlon Wayans may have mentioned that she would be involved in their brother Damon's new TV Series Poppa's House which is set to come out soon.
